sell or be sold

Sell or Be Sold

Recently me and the guys have been reading a really stellar book. You might notice that we are on a Grant Cardone kick, but its for a good reason. After reading the 10x rule that we suggested to our readers in our previous post it got us hungry for more.  Grant Cardone is an absolute animal, and for many he may be too much.

But we’ll tell you what, he makes some unbelievably accurate statements that everyone should listen to. In the 10x rule one of the big take home points was that everyone when starting a new endeavor greatly under estimates the energy and action needed to complete this endeavor.  So his solution is to take 10x the action you think is required to accomplish this goal or endeavor – hence the name 10x.

Sell or Be Sold is another brilliant book brought to you by Mr. Grant Cardone. In this book Grant explains that in life their is always a game of persuasion going on. That any two people or more, are always involved in the game of sales between each other. Whether its selling a co-worker on where to eat for lunch, or perhaps a daughter trying to sell her parents on a new extended bed time. No mater what the relationship or the topic being discussed, their is always a game of sells taking part.

So Grant makes the very valid point, are you going to be the seller or the one being sold – because you can only be one or the other. Your either persuading others of your wants, or you are being persuaded by the wants of someone else. Regardless if your in sales or not this offers great take home points for readers. We are all in situations where we are trying to advance our particular interests whether at home, or at work. Once we start to see this situations as moments of selling or being sold, then our actions in these situations change. Instead of being lenient towards the will of someone else, you realize their trying to sell you, and obviously you pick and choose your battles. But you can begin to gauge how often and how well you are able to persuade others of your desires on a situation. And when it comes to important situations, you can develop better methods of persuading others of your interests.

The book offers great tips no matter what industry your in, and gives you a great understanding of the human dynamic. Though this quote is from his 10x book, I think it accurately describes the message behind sell or be sold. In 10x says, “you either actively pursue your dreams, or you become a resource for the dreams of others.” Though that may be a bold statement, we believe it to be very true here at MTGN. In fact its really the reason behind why we created this website – as inspiration to be a creator in your own life.

We all have the option to work for ourselves, but so seldom to people actually take that offer. Possibly out of fearor security reasons, but by relinquishing the call to action in our own lives we become a resource for someone else. This does not necessarily mean that working for others means you are entirely giving up on your dreams. Often times working for others towards a passion of yours is just as effective, and even more, than working for yourself. So by no means are we saying working for others in abandoning your own dreams. We are rather saying that when you choose something entirely unstimulating to you then you are simply relinquishing all creativity and passion you have, to simply be a clog in someone elses machine.

So follow your passions, and learn to persuade others of your passions. There are millions of people trying to sell their passions on a daily basis, but there is no reason that your passions should not be heard over everyone else’s.
